My girlfriend's Acer Aspire 5100 is having problems with its internet connection. Nearly every time the computer is left alone for a period of time (sometimes as little as 30 min) something will go wrong with the internet connection. The only solution we have found so far is to disconnect, then reconnect to the house's internet connection (wireless on her notebook).

I doubt it is an internet or network problem because my wired desktop and wireless laptop work perfectly on the same connection.

Is this issue of dropping the internet connection a known issue? Is it a driver or software fix that anyone here knows about?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mac Hooke

switch off power save mode in the wifi card settings first.

Where are the "wifi card settings" you speak of?

Do you mean in the computer's power management profiles? When it's plugged in it's always on highest performance everything, but I'll check anyway.

right click my computer/properties/open hardware tab/Device manager/Expand network adapters/right click your wifi adapter and select properties/open advanced tab/select power save mode and disable it.

OK, did that. We will try to leave the computer alone for a while and then see if it works. *fingers crossed*
