Apologies for what is no doubt an obvious question to you laptop afficionados, but here goes anyway.

Been hunting around for a new laptop, and stumbled accross Acer Aspire 1652 (link to retailer HERE). I also however stumbled accross the Acer AS1654WLMI (link to retailer HERE). What is the difference between these 2 laptops? I can't see it, and I haven't been able to work out the logic system used in the naming of the laptops to tell me what the difference between "1654" and "1652" is.

Also, what is the situation with docking station/port replicators? What are my options if I decide to buy one of these laptops?

Any help would be appreciated (and if anyone thinks that I really need to rethink my choices here, please let me know).

One is 2ghz, and the other is 1.73ghz. Video memory is 128 on one and 64 on the other. Hope that helps. :D the 1654WLMI is the better unit.

I can't believe I missed that. I specifically looked at the processor first, as I assumed that would account for the model number difference. I think I have spent so long staring at spec sheets that my brain has decided not to take in any more information :(

Thanks for pointing out my error!

No problem, it's understandable. Many can get confused between something like an Aspire 3000 model and a Travelmate 3000. They look very similar. There are also so many variations of the Aspire 3000 series- that alone can confuse anybody. Also, some models are different in different countries and some that are the same can have a different model number, it's very screwy indeed. :p
