    i have an acer 5735 running windows vista...when i use the AC, it will say "96% available (plugged in, not charging) why would it not be charging?

    thanks... :confused:

    Let the battery discharge to 1-5% first and see if it helps ;)

    When the charge falls and reaches a predetermined level it will re charge back to 100%, then the charge circuit is switched off.
    If you continue to use on mains it will fall back slowly due to self discharge over a few days and the process repeats.
    My Aspire falls to 96%, then after a couple of days it charges back... it's normal.
    To keep a Li-On cell on trickle charge would soon kill it, the chemistry doesn't support that mode of operation, hence the behaviour of the charge circuit.
