Can the motherboard in the 5920G support 800mhz DDR-2 memory.

You can put 800mhz sticks in, but the motherboard will just downclock it to 667mhz.

Currently, no Santa Rosa processor can use 800MHz DDR2 RAM without downclocking it to 667.

So... a processor with a 800mhz front bus has no advantage over a processor with a 667mhz front bus (in a santa rosa chipset).

It does, a cpu with 800MHz FSB will be just slightly faster than the same one with only 667MHz FSB. Otherwise why would Intel release a new faster processor with more FSB if it didn't matter.

The thing is that 667MHz ram does not hinder or hold back the new cpus with 800MHz FSB.

I Have T7300 (800FSB) Processor & I'm planning to update my ram to DDR2 800 Mhz next month,So...buying a 800Mhz ram is useless if main board down clock it

Stay with default 667Mhz will save $126 :(

yep, but i'm thinking about getting one 2GB stick to get memory up to 3GB total. Those guys with Asus notebooks and 3GB of memory claim that it makes a big difference...

Are you going to upgrade your RAM or Readyboost?????

readyboost so far is useless gadget, but I'ts about system RAM - Asus owners say that GeForceM 8600 gives fantastic performance boost in demanding games with 3GB of system memory for unknown reason :)

But you'll lost dual channel mode

Dual channel mean 965M chipset use two lanes to deliver ram data(Like one lane to in & one to out)Ram dual channal mode need same size(capacity) ram sticks( Eg: 1Gb X 2 )....
That's the simplistic way i can explain dual channel :D

You would loose dual-achannel but what surprises me the most that even without it people with Asus notebooks see really noticeable improvements with i.e. FEAR. Who said 2GB is enough to play games on Vista ;)

You do realize that you don't need matching size ram sticks to have dual channel? Thus he in fact did not lose dual channel.

It's called asynchronous (sp?) dual channel. While it's not as fast as synchronous (sp?) dual channel which is what you get if you have matching sticks, it's still dual channel none the less and is faster than single channel.

dual channel only gives a 2-4% boost in ram performance so sticking an extra gig in will give a big boost + theres more available for that video turbocache thingy! lol
