I picked up once of these recently and it's great. Runs Crysis 2 at 1280x720 on 'Extreme' with the DX11 patch and high def textures with no slowdown. I'm getting some crackling when bass gets loud but that's a driver problem I haven't sorted out yet (came with linux). The only thing I think might bother some people is the lack of stand alone volume or media control buttons but you can do these using the function key.

i have the travelmate 7750g which seems to be same hw with matte screeen. the only problem I have is that it seems it does not support switchable graphics. ie cannot switch to intel HD3000 from ati card.

I just got the Acer 7750G last month. Before getting one, I was thinking of getting either the MSI GT780 or Asus G74. However the MSI had "noise" issues and some reports of keyboard issues, and Asus had some previous issues as well. So, decided to take the risk and got an Acer 7750G. I'm glad I did. My 7750G is the same as the one reviewed in Notebookcheck, except that mine comes with a Toshiba 750GB 5400rpm drive. Removed the drive and installed two WD Scorpio Blacks, BTW, I ordered the extra laptop doors and mounting screws from Acer for the second drive. Right now, I'm pretty happy with my computer. It is very quiet, and temperatures are cool. My last $3000 dollar laptop was extremely noisy and hot, so those two issues are resolved with this laptop. Overall, I'm very very satisfied with this purchase.

    Pros:
    - i7 2630. Very Fast.
    - Good Video Card HD6850M (More on that later).
    - Dual HDD bays (More this later).
    - 16GB memory. I installed 16gb. Comes with a single 4gb DDR3 1333.
    - Responsive Keyboard.
    - Track-pad is great. Feels like an iPhone.
    - Comes with a matte screen. Screen brightness is great. (Some cons as well below).

    Cons:
    - HD6850M uses DDR3 instead of DDR5. This hampers the full potential of the video card.
    - To use the second hdd bay, you will have to contact Acer for the back door and HDD mounting bracket. Very troublesome.

    - While the video card is great for games, support for its parallel processing is some what lacking. Adobe CS5, Xilisoft video converter seems to have problems detecting the video card. Cuda based video cards like GT540m, and GTX570 etc video cards are detected no problem.

    - Wifi keeps turning on every time I turn on the laptop. Could not turn if off permanently. I could turn it off, but I had to do it every time I start the computer. A minor nit pick.

    - Screen is not full hd. But in my opinion, its expected for the price.

    - Keyboard while very responsive, feel not as sturdy as Macbook Pro 17", and HP Envy 15 (very hot computer).

    - Sound is a little like a "tin can", and not that "loud", but hey, its a laptop not a boombox =).

    - Could not turn off the the HD6850M and use the CPU video card and save battery.

Overall, I am happy with this. Just don't expect it to perform like an i7 980x (i have one). In fact, I use this laptop now more than my desktop.

If you're on the fence like I did, get one. It really is a great laptop. Probably the best laptop there for the buck. However, USA 7750G seems not to have the HD 6850M. Got mine from Hongkong, and am very very happy. Got mine for about $1100 usd with 16gb DDR3.
