    Hello guys,

I just want to share my problem with you hopefully somebody will help me to resolve it.
I have Acer Aspire 5100-5022,AMD Turion 64x2 TL50, 1.6GHz, 512KB L2 cache, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100, 100GB PATA HDD, 1GB RAM and my operation system originally was XP.
I purchased through Moduslink and Acer Express Upgrade to Windows Vista™ and they sent me a DVD Kit which contained :
    1. Express Upgrade to Windows Vista DVD; and
    2. Acer Upgrade DVD

I successfully installed them and since February everything works fine... Thanks God!

Due to our (me and my girlfriend) daily usages I decided today to Recover or in another words to set the laptop in Default Status, means to ERASE all data, and Re-Install Vista one more time.

For this operation I decided to call Acer Support Center and to ask them for any risks, future problems and any kind of professional advices.
Seems, that the guy who I talked to was not very Pro and saying that I can easily use my Disc 1 to Recover the system.
    Ok.
    I did it...
But what happen' ... When the installation complete I was shocked and stoned... MY HARD DRIVE ALERTED ME THAT I HAVE 2GB FREE SPACE,ONLY and actually I installed Vista one more time.
So,finally I got Vista twice on the same Hard Drive without any kind of ERASING or RECOVERING...
    Now,the poor lappy :( cry

    CAN YOU HELP ME,PLEASE !

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE TO ALL OF YOU !!!

    try hard disk recovery
then do you vista anytime uprade

: How can I launch Acer eRecovery Management to back up or restore my system? Answer: You can press <Alt+F10> or the Empowering Key to launch in a Windows environment, or press <Alt+F10> during boot up. For the Veriton desktop series, you can also press the hardware reset button at any time. For the Aspire or AcerPower desktop series, an Acer eRecovery Management icon can be found on the desktop screen.Q2: Why can't I launch Acer eRecovery Management when I press the button? Answer: Acer eRecovery Management can only be accessed by a user with administrator rights. Q3: What's the password when I first launch Acer eRecovery Management? How do I set my own password? Answer: When first launching Acer eRecovery Management, the default password is six zeros (a reminder appears in the bottom-left of the password page). You can change the password in eRecovery Settings after entering the default password. Q4: Why can't I restore my latest backup image? Answer: Acer eRecovery Management only supports FAT32-formatted D drives. You will not be able to restore your backup image once you convert the D drive to NTFS format. Q5: Why can't I run other tasks while burning my backup disk? Answer: For system stability, Acer eRecovery Management will lock the keyboard and mouse while preparing data to burn a factory default image or user backup image.

Should I convert the System to FAT32 before I run the Recovery CD's that I made originally (when the PC was still with XP) or it doesn't matter...And how to convert it easily?

Thank you for the rapid reply!

Once you convert to NTFS and install Vista we all forget about the original built-in option of Recovery console (Empowering Technology). So after that we MUST use the CD's to do that. The point is should we rollover to FAT32 or those CD's which I made (with the Recovery soft) will do it automatically.

You must be installing windows on a small partition of the hard drive more than likely the recovery partition wich is around 10gb...

If i were you i would just delete all partitions and create one partition with the full capacity of the HD and intal vista fresh then just download whatever drivers you might need from acers website and you should be good to go. :)
