I am planning to buy an Aspire 3680-2022 with a Celeron M processor and I was wondering if I can just replace the CPU with a Intel Pentium M 760 Dothan?

Can the chipset handle it? Would I have any problems with it? Any Dothan will do?

    I would appreciate your insight.

    Thank You.

The Dothan 760 should work. Any Dothan should be good, as long as you match the Package type, FSB, and the CPU voltage. Look at Intel's Processor Spec Finder for info on the cpus you wish to upgrade to. Also upgrade to your lastest bios release.

Did the CPU upgrade ever work out? Or did anyone else put a real Dothan CPU in their 3680? I am considering purchasing this, but want to know if the BIOS will recognize other CPUs with no prob.. thanks for any help.

When I picked mine up about 6 months ago a lot of people said it would be no problem, but here it is 6 months later and I cannot find a single post about it being done successfully.
If you aren't 100% sure through your own knowledge it's best to leave it alone, unless you can afford to buy a new Dothan that may or may not work.

Thanks arnesr,I'll follow that blog. The lack of speedstep is my only gripe with my M530.The battery life is just over 2 hours.
