    I bought a new Acer TravelMate 2000.
This laptop is ****. He is useless...
On battery power laptop works two times slower than on A/C adapter.
THERE IS NO ADJUST POSSIBILIY. ZThere is no software and there is no options in BIOS.
I makes tests on few laptops of this type and all was the same (****ted).

Have you tried contacting Acer regarding this problem? What did they say/do?

Ihis is normal in TravelMate 2000.
There is no information in acer offert or notebook specification. You cannot to know this before you buy.

Well, if you contacted Acer and they were surprised that this happens, it means that this is not normal and there must be a setting somewhere to allow this to work. Have them look into it and try to resolve the problem. Since this seems to be a big issue, it's possible it's a design flaw. If this is the case, I'd ask for a different unit that doesn't have a Celeron CPU.

I tested on two 2001fxc, 2001lc and 2100. All of them has celeron procoessor and all have the same bug.
In acer they were surpised because polish service know nothin'. They dont know what they sell and they dont knonw what they repair.
When i called them they said "so what", "it is normal", "its your problem", "try to buy more expensive model" - fools.
Pentium processor is 1/3 my laptop price so i i cant afford for that.
When i tell that story, everybody is surprised because it is NOT normal. It is stupid but is true. No software, No bios option, two times slower.

On sandra cpu aritmetic: 7200 (ac adapter), 3600 (on battery) :/

A friend has Toshiba a60 (celeron 2,8). He can adjust performace. He has external software. I search for non-acer software but i found only speedswitch xp. speedswitch xp works only with speedstep or powernow. celeron hasnt speedstep so it is useless in my laptop. No other adjustment software I found. Software from toshiba or asus doesnt work here.

But on AC adapter all things are all right, aren't they? I think that 1.5hour of batery life isn't enought, so you're using AC adapter more often than battery.

By the way, on AC how is graphical performance? I'm going to buy it. Is there anyone who pass 3D mark test or AquaMark?

    Thanks!

    I make 3DMark2001se tests.
On AC adapter - 2890 pkt
    on battery - 2100 pkt.

You can play Battlefield 1942, Need For Speed Underground. But framerate is 30-40. You can play games but it is not hig-end (sometimes for good fps i must degrade resolution from 1024x768 to 800x600) :p
When i do aquamark test I will place results here.
Laptop works fine... only one bad thing is performance loss on battery...
Acer inform on his website than laptop has 400 Mhz bus, processor has 128 Kb cache and agp is 4.
I make test and... Bus is 533 Mhz, processor has 256 KB and agp is 8 :) (same parameters as in 2500 model)
