Hi guys this is my 2nd post and here I've got a question for you ,
so the thing is that I'm about to get back to my old OS which was set up on this laptop when I bought it , I'm going to use my back up dvd's , which I made after I have bought this laptop. The question is during backup will the HDD be formated or I have to come up with a way how to do it before I use my back up dvd's ?

    Thank you

Geotoma, the recovery DVDs will clear off your hard drive for you. Make sure you've got your files backed up.
(although if you're still using the two-partition setup that your Acer came with, only C: will be formatted. The data partition D: should remain untouched)

Yeah the thing is that I'm currently running on windows XP pro. and I made two partitions on my own atm I've got C:/ and D:/ <- used like a storage to not couse any dmg to vital files of windows . I'm using Acer Aspire 5520 and after I downgraded back to XP I have started to get some systematical problems , after a little research I got to know that acer generally haven't released any drivers which would support windows XP OS on this laptop , that's why I'm getting currious and propobly will get back to Vista , but I want to know if I have to format my HDD before I use backup dvds or it will be fine without formating , or backup Dvds will do the job on there own .
And if I have to format then how do I do it ? >_<

The DVD you made "should" be bootable. Simply boot off it and reinstall the base OS again. always make sure you have a full backup of your data before hand.

If you are missing drivers for XP do a search on the forums here, there have been people that successfully installed XP on the 5520 and had full driver support.

The disk will auto-partition your drive and restore it for you. No formatting needed.

So I can do backup without being scared that things will turn out bad , even without making a full HDD format - how about partitions , i ve got C:/ and D:/ can i make more partitions or i have to leave things as they are Oo.
Or i can use windows XP CD to delete all the partitions , create a new once , and then do backup ?

my advice.... let the disk do its thing. Don't muck around w/it or the partitions on your hdd.
