Quick question--
I notice that some notebooks in the Aspire series have almost exactly the same specs as notebooks in the Travelmate series (eg, TM4000 vs. AS1680). Is the chassis the only real difference?

Also--do these Aspire series really have CrystalBright screens?!

I didn't notice this until I saw one advertised on a reseller's web site as having CrystalBright. -
for me 8006 lmi travelmate...

I think that the main diff is just the design.

I thing they both come in exactly the same chasis expect for the Silver paint in Aspire series

If comparing similarly spec'd models (TM & Aspire), then the main difference would be the case design and additional ports on the Travelmate's, mainly the Port Replicator connector on the back of the TM4500 series. Otherwise, they're generally the same unit.

Doesn't the Aspire have an "All-In-One" design where as the TravelMate is modular so you can swap out the Optical drive for something else like a battery or floppy?

Only 4500 series has the Acermediabay (Swappable)
But its fixed in other models that comes in same chasis ( TM 2300,4000 and apsire 1680)
