I'm considering this notebook mainly because of the IPS screen but I'm not that keen on Windows 8.

Has anyone successfully installed Windows 7 on this machine and been able to find drivers? The USB 3.0 driver might be a problem?

    Thanks

Finally got windows 7 installed along with all the drivers and a few programs but the Elan touchpad is driving me a bit crazy. The left and right button which are integrated into the pad are okay even though they are a bit stiff and the cursor sometimes twitches because the pad senses movement when clicking.

But the most annoying thing is when tapping a left click. about 25% of the time the pad doesn't register the click and I have to tap again. Has anyone got any tips for tweaking the Elan touchpad? I've tried adjusting the sensitivity and palm sensitivity but it hasn't really done anything. Perhaps a reg tweak of some sorts?

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

Apart from the horrible touchpad and a somewhat noisy right fan this notebook is really great. The full HD IPS screen is a real beauty compared to the TN panel in my Edge E520.

Also installed a 128 GB Plextor mSATA which really helped the notebook fly.

    Hi Nexeren!
Sorry if I can't help you there. I am about to buy the 573G along with Win7. Did you manage to get everything working? Acer only offers win8 drivers for download. Where did you download the drivers? Not sure if posting links here is allowed, but maybe we can use PM, I'd appreciate that.

    All best,

    Posting links is perfectly fine.
As for PMs you don't have PM privileges yet so that's temporary out of the question - still posting links here would possibly benefit others so that would be preferred anyway.

    That's even better!

Nexeren, I've done some digging, that is the only link I could find, maybe you can do me a favor and post yours as well!

Drivers for Acer Aspire V5-573G Notebook / Netbook | HWDriver.com

Also, somebody pointed out to me that some of the win8 driver packages might actually contain the ones for win7 as well. Can anybody confirm?

It would be nice to get some more feedback from those who installed Win7 on their Acer.

    Thanks in advance!

I have recently bought this model in Ukraine and as I rather hate windows 8 on desktop PCs without touchpad screen, I installed windows 7. found all necessary drivers on acer russian community with proper USB 3.0 support, although not all drivers worked from their site.
my config: i5-4200u+gt750m+fullhd ips panel, atheros wi-fi/bluetooth combo, synaptics touchpad.
almost all drivers are here: Äðàéâåðà äëÿ Acer V5-573G, V5-573, V5-573P è V5-573PG
downloaded cardreader realtek from Drivers for Acer Aspire V5-573G Notebook / Netbook | HWDriver.com and synaptics touchpad driver from official acer download center for windows 8.1 - worked also for windows 7 x64.

    Hey,

I Purchased this laptop. It only included a bootable Linux lupus so I tried to install Windows 7 to it. I used rufus and this quide to create the uefi bootable usb UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows. For some reason though the installation just hangs in the starting windows screen. I tried to use different usb port, took the usb of the port and put it back again, but still the problem persist.I used Windows Home Premium 64.

Also I tried changing uefi to lecagy boot and making the bootable usb to ntfs. By doing this though for some reason the computer boots to the Linux lupus even though the usb is in the first order in boot. I'm not 100% sure but I think the problem is the Linux lupus.

I really like the computer but after battling with it several hours im getting quite pissed and thinking of just returning it.

Any suggestion how to get the windows 7 to work?

    Thanks in advance.

I bought the same laptop (with linux linpus) from germany and I installed win 7 with external CD-player. It was also very tricky at the beginning but after switching around with the settings in Bios (legacy) I managed to install win7.

Now it works all perfectly, I just need to install right driver for USB 3.0 so I might need some help from tsokh as well...

Dont return this laptop, you can still install win 7 on it :) Infact, Im wrting this message from this laptop right now.

I use Windows7 USB/DVD tool to create a bootable USB flash drive, then insert it in USB 2.0 port located either on left/right side of notebook. I used right one. Restart and go to BIOS settings.
    In BIOS:
change Boot->Boot Mode->Legacy (default value is UEFI)
make USB HDD 1st in the list of bootable devices.
    Save&Restart.
That's all - now the Windows installation will begin.

Here is a screen-shot of my USB devices:

another link of USB 3.0 driver from my google drive:

I checked the detailed specs of the notebook in question in notebookcheck's review, found out what NIC is being used and went straight for the manufacturer's website to look for a driver.

I usually look in Device Manager for Hardware ID (double click on the device in Device Manager -> Details -> select Hardware Ids) and google it - it gives me a ton of links for download a proper driver.

    Hi tsokh,

Thanks for the link and save my day. Because the original is for the win 8 and I have struggled for a while. Now most of them is ok except the brightness. I think may be the problem is on the monitor. Under the device manager, it showed "generic PnP monitor". I can't get it to install properly. Its driver Elantech HID Monitor AUO FHD is for win 8. I couldn't get a proper driver for win 7. Any clues?

    Monitor still generic one.jpg

I have no problems adjusting the screen brightness on windows 7. are you sure that you installed all necessary drivers? like chipset and graphics drivers for both Intel HD4400 and Nvidia card?
I also have Generic PnP monitor in device manager. I hope that you use right/left arrow with Fn key to adjust brightness.

    Hi tsokh,
I have installed the nvidia driver but not sure the one you mentioned HD4400. I did installed some drivers under an app called "Intel VGA UMA". Inside it, it contains "display audio, graphic, ICC, Lang, MediaSDK and x64". inside the graphic read me, it's a "Intel(R) Graphics Driver: 10.18.10.3316". But not Intel HD4400 you mentioned..

If you have i5-4200U, then the integrated video card is Intel HD4400. I don't know why you installed drivers through some app as they are available in Intel download center on their site. The latest stable version for HD4400 is 15.33.14.64.3412.
You also didn't mention in the post if you installed chipset drivers as it's critical to get everything working as it should.

    Hi tsokh,

I managed to install the chipset drivers from intel side. The only VGA driver I didn't install is this intel HD4400 cos not knowing what hw it is. Now I no.. 8)

Update: I update the intel HD graphic driver and I can control the brightness level now. 8) Now left the chipset drivers.. I think not completely install cos I still see the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller is still "standard". May I know your one if indicate the same? I wonder which is the correct one..

Since I went to great lengths in finding a wifi / wireless for Windows 7 x64 driver for my Acer Aspire V5-123 laptop I've decided to register and post here. Maybe I can help someone who's also having trouble finding one.

I went to Device Manager, right clicked on Network Controller > Properties > Details (Tab) > (Selected) Hardware IDs and I got there: VEN_168c (which stands for Atheros) with DEV_0036 (which stands for Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter. Qualcomm Atheros AR956x).

From here I googled "Atheros driver downloads" and you go to ATHEROS Wireless drivers for Windows and download the Win 7 64bit package for AR956x:

    win7-10.0.0.274-whql.zip

The rest should be easy, just unzip it and update the driver selecting manually the path to the unzipped files.

I followed this topic because I installed win7 on my acer Aspire-V5-573G-54204G75aii.

I'm still not able to install the proper Ethernet driver for win 7, I have already tried this drivers Realtek RTL8168/8111.
    But they don't work.

I also have the same problem Hi tsokh had,

Under the device manager, it showed "generic PnP monitor".
Can you give me some tips?

    Thanks in advance,
