Just picked up an Aspire AS3003WLCi from a local Compusa, wiped the hard drive and installed my version of windows which I actually purchased from B&M store. They didn't include an OEM Windows CD.

Problems I've run into so far, are :

    1) My screen is not lining up lines of pixels correctly. I'm wondering if it's the fact that I have a 1200x800 screen running at 1200x768 resolution or its an actualy screen hardware problem. If anybody else ran into this problem please let me know.

Other than that runs relatively smoothly, just have to set up my wireless network. When I get a chance.

Thanks for anybody's thoughts on the subject.

Do you have an option for 1200x800 in display properties.

No, that's the thing. I only have 800x600, 1024x768, and 1200x768. Does anybody know how I can expand the range of my resolutions in XP?

    Thanks.

How about a driver update? Maybe try Windows Update.

Have you installed the SiS VGA driver. Download it from the Acer support site and see if it changes anything.

Thank you. I'll give it a shot after work. Any other tips, I see you're running the same Sempron unit I just got.

Uh-oh, just noticed this on the Acer Website:

For a free copy of the standard limited warranty end-users should see a reseller where Acer products are sold or write to Acer America Corporation, Warranty Department, P.O. Box 6137, Temple, TX 76503. TFT displays commonly exhibit a small number of discolored dots, so-called “nonconforming pixels.” This phenomenon is a limitation of TFT LCD technology, not a product defect and, as such, is not covered by the limited warranty or by the upgrade programs.

Could it be that I have horizontal lines of these "nonconforming pixels"?, When I scroll the screen a whole line of pixels doesn't exactly line up. It's as if the screen is not flat, but convoluted.

    Thoughts on these nonconforming pixels?

No they are not dead/stuck pixels. It is more likely a driver issue.

That was it! Downloaded the SIS VGA drivers and the screen is beautiful. Looove it. I'm not a big notebook connoisseur, but a this seems was a great deal.

Thanks everybody for the input, especially zazonz.
