    Hi people
Iam trying to upgrade the CPU only
What is the fastest CPU I can fit in this motherboard [ I Dont intend to over-clock it ]
    CPU-Z says Its a T5800 Socket P [478] & FSB is 800MHz
There plenty of parts on Ebay some have FSB of 1066 are they incompatible?
Does anyone know the relevent Part No.? When it comes to searching Ebay it would make things a lot easier.
    Thanks

    Bob-Static, the best you can put is T9900/X9100, but they're kinda overpriced. T9800, T9600, P9600, P8800 are more cost-efficient.

    Bob-Static, just remember that quad-cores (Q9000, Q9100, QX9300) are definite no-go, they won't work.

    Thanks for the info
At the moment T9800 are around £25.00 as you know the run at 2.9Khz
The T9900 runs @ 3.1Khz and are twice the price and more
Any reason why the price difference is so great ?

Bob-Static, T9900 should also run cooler. There are also E8335 and E8435 with same fequencies as T9800/T9900 respectively, but they lack some power-saving technologies and run hotter, though should be noticeably cheaper.

I think Ive bought a T9800 of ebay from a seller in the U.S.A.?
There still working out the total price including P&P They questioned the term P&P
Hard to believe I know but true
If I do buy it .Do I have to update the BIOS for this cpu?
Or any CPU for that matter ? Thanks.

Bob-Static, updating BIOS to latest version is essential, whatever you do with the machine. You may also need to run cmospwd and kill CMOS settings ( -k) right before installing new CPU.

just update from official site from desktop, computer restarts and it is done. Why you guys write here, that acer 6930 g is compatible with cpu T9600, while it has PGA478 socket. and the laptop itself has PPGA478 socket. Can you tell me, how you upgrade in that way.? Or usa laptop are different from eu ones?

dating, this notebook has socket-p, and T9600 is a socket-p CPU. Just replace it and voila.

but there are PPGA478 and PGA478 ones, for some reason, they are, my default had t5800 cpu, and it had ppga478 socket type to insert it in, not pga478.

Just what was the default cpu in this model, when you bought it?
