Are the Aspire 5920G and Aspire 5920G-302G 16Mi essentially the same model?

From a quick Google search, I could figure out that the 16 refers to 160GB HDD. Then there's the 302G 25Mi with a 250GB HDD.

I'm only asking because, strangely, the store where I'm buying this laptop from has just updated its site with the CPU listed as T5450 instead of T7300. No matter how much I googled, all models (both those listed as "5920G-302G16Mi" and those with just "5920G") have the T7300. It could well be a typo for all I know.

It's selling for ~$1,600, and I found it in another store (where the CPU is correctly listed as T7300, but with 8600M GS gfx, and just one year warranty) for ~$1,900.

    Any pointers?

I live in Thailand and recently purchased a 4920G. While shopping I discovered that the 4920G and 5920G come in an endless number of configurations as to the included hardware. So much so that I finally gave up trying to compare prices and just focused on the guts of each version. I don't really understand why Acer feels it necessary to put out the same notebook with completely different specs. They are really totally different models that just share the same case and basic design. It is almost as if they are trying to intentionally confuse the market to avoid comparrison. I do think they offer good value but I really don't like the fact that they are selling a rebranded X2500 graphic chip as a new product. After my purchase that came as an unplesant surprise.

Point is, you have to judge each of their models on its individual merits. Very tough to compare prices on Acer models.

What do you mean by "rebranded x2500 as a new product".

I really don't see why it's difficult to compare the price. The differences within each model include ONLY the processor, RAM, and HD.

The X2500 turns out to be the old X1700 relabeled. There are several threads on various forums regarding this. I just did not bother to read any of it before I purchased. My falt.

In my local market there are an astounding number of 4920G models in a variety of hardware configurations. Using Ati, Intel, AMD, various HD and memory. In one mall I counted eleven different versions of the 4920G. I stopped counting and just focused on the individual specs of each machine. To make it even more confusing some (mostly with AMD cpu) are offerred without any operating system at a somewhat lower price. That is, no installed windows (Vista or XP).

It's a store in Malta (Europe).

I'm buying the 5920G (T7300 CPU) tomorrow for ~$2,000. The ~$1,600 model that was on the site/I mentioned in the previous post is actually the 5920 (didn't know there's a 5920G and 5920 models) that comes with the T5450.

For some reason, the 5920 has the GT graphics card while the 5920G I'm buying has the GS... From what I read here and elsewhere, there seems to be a general consensus that the GT is actually better, but I have no choice.

    So, an update is due...

I refused to buy the model with the GS and now I'm waiting for a model with the GT to arrive. Today I was given a quote about one of the latest models that has the Bluray drive (I didn't think they were imported to Europe).

I don't know whether it's worth getting a laptop with Bluray or whether it's still too early to think about this stuff. And in that eventuality, HD-DVD or Bluray?
