you still have to make a custom XP CD using NLITE to slipstream the SATA DRIVERS..

just make the DISK according to the instructions on this page...

install XP from the newly created CD...
then install any additional drivers needed from the files in the first 2 posts!

    it is that easy!

ok i installed everythign and it all works fine except i cant get my wired lan connection to be recognized.

the wireless works, and i have a 1394 connection, but there is no sign of a wired connection anywhere.

i plug it in and nothing happens, do you have any ideas?

    *edit
turns out the motherboard was faulty

i have a 5920 and i have found the drivers for xp from this nice post.

    however i'm facing a problem:

I have reformated the hard drive and made a clean installation of xp pro. After the installation the first driver i have installed was the chipset driver. However, after i have installed the chipset driver my usb ports are not working and there are marked as problem in device manager. It looks to me like it didn't install the chipset drivers properly. I have downloaded the driver from intel and for the gm965 chipset.

    any help is much appreciated

First i'd like to thank all for posting the xp drivers! This is what i've been lookin for the past year! :) :notworthy:
So as a thank you i'd like to add a new trick to the game...
You don't need to slipstream the sata driver after all. Just change in your bios (tab main) your sata mode from AHCP to IDE and your drive will be found! ;)
