I've got Acer Aspire 5732ZG model with 4GB of RAM (2x 2GB DDR3 modules). Manufacturer's specification states that 4GB is the maximum memory you can use in this model. Did somebody tried installing more than 4GB in this model?

    Hi pribina, welcome to NBR.

According to service manual this notebook is based on Mobile IntelĀ® GL40 Express Chipset which according to its specs support only 4GB so apparently it can't be done.

I've checked my laptop with CPU-Z and it reported that I do have an GM45/GM47 chipset. According to Intel GM45 express chipset specification it supports DDR3 up to 8GB. How to make sure what chipset is on board without dismantling my notebook?

Check with AIDA or Everest. Also you may check the RAM- if you have DDR3 RAM it's definitely not Mobile IntelĀ® GL40 Express Chipset.

Everest reports: "Intel Cantiga GM45". It seems that Acer 5732ZG which comes with built in Radeon 545v graphics card differs a lot from the older 5732Z. It is very hard to find proper info about this model because all data and specification on Acer site reffers to model 5732Z.

I've opened a RAM cover at the bottom of the laptop and I have two 2GB DDR3 modules installed:
    - Kingston ACR256X64D3S1333C9
    - Samsung M471B5673FHO-CH9

Now I have a question about a possible upgrade. Can I replace one of the modules with a 4GB module?

downloads thank you for your help. I'll buy a 4GB module this week and post results of an upgrade.

edit: I can confirm that Acer 5732ZG with GM45 chipset can handle more than 4GB of RAM. Now I have 6GB of memory and the laptop is working fine.
