I want to buy an extra power brick for my 5680 so I hopped on ebay and tried finding the PA-1900-0 4 model (which is the original brick that came with the laptop).

Unfortuantely, there are not many listed, however, there is an abundance of PA-1900-0 5 models available. From the specs I could dig up, these are basically the same, but just to be sure, I would like to see if anyone has had any experience or knows of a reason not to substitute one for the other.

Well, generally, it is not a good idea to use AC adapters that do not have corresponding part numbers, but a lot of Acers are sold, and the notebooks probably use a range of adapters. It is best to make sure before you purchase, that the output voltage/current and other figures are the same as your current one.

That's exactly what I am curious about - the specs seem identical, yet there are two part numbers, one easily found on ebay, while the other (the laptop original) more expensive and difficult to find.

Hoping to get through to Acer support to get an answer from them.

Tried e-mailing Acer about the adapter question above, but a couple of weeks passed with no reply. Does anyone have a contact number for Acer support in Canada?

A few emails and a few months later and still no reply from acer. Can anyone tell me if I can use the 1900-05 adapter as from what I can tell the specs are identical. The only thing holding me back is why are there two model numbers if the specs are the same?
