i don't think it makes sense.

benchmarks are only showing a very slight performance improvement of the core 2 duo over the core duo.

you would be better off buying a higher speed core duo than spending the big bucks on the core 2 duo, but i wouldn't even bother with that.

if you have money to blow, just put that money toward a new core 2 duo laptop. or you could upgrade to a 7200rpm drive and 667 memory.

667Mhz memory and 7200 rpm HD is a natural upgrade, but my doubt is if the new Core 2 Duo (CPU) will be 100% compatible with Aspire 5670.

What's Intel's thinking on making a new Core 2 Duo 2ghz cheaper than an old Core Duo 2ghz?

Here's a guys comments from doing the upgrade on Newegg:

Cons: - No Noticeable Speed Difference From 1.83GHz Core Duo - Costly Upgrade - Will be outdated in less than half a year

the only thing that worries me is the heat, .. does the C2D get much hotter than CDs? does it even get hotter? oO My Core Duo fires up to 60°+ sometimes. I have an Antec Cooling Thingy under my Laptop.

    4MB L2 Cache ftw <3
