Hi, I'm a newbie here and I would like to seek for some answers if there's any from other notebook gurus here regarding my Aspire 5570.

    1. I would like to know the possibilities of upgrading my current cpu ( Core Solo T1350 @ 1.86GHz, 533 Mhz FSB, 2Mb L2 cache) to a Core Duo cpu (I'm thinking of T2500 / T2600 / T2700) or even perhaps a Core 2 Duo cpu's (T5XXXs). I noticed inside the user manual stated that versions of 5570 that came with a Duo Core T2600 thus made me believe that there's a possibilities for me to throw in a Core Duo cpu inside my notebook. But then I need some assurance from other users since I'm quite new with notebooks.

    2. Am I just bound with Yonah cpu type or I could also upgrade to Merom type too?

    3. And btw, I'm looking for service manual for Aspire 5570 to help me getting skin deep with my notebook

Well, fyi.. I'm just planning to upgrade for the sake of exploring the possibilities to increase my notebook performance other than just upgrading RAMs and harddisk which I already did. Hope someone could help me with this. Thanks a lot!

Here's some of my notebook specs generated with Everest:

You can upgrade to the yonah (2500 for example) or merom (7200) for example but you would need a BIOS update. Do not get the new 800MHz bus series as they will not fit (7300 for example).

Do you mean I could upgrade to any Yonah or Merom on this motherboard chipsets as long as it has a 533 / 667 MHz FSB ? Are there any other factors that I need to consider for choosing a suitable cpu for my notebook?

Yes those chips are the same socket as your current one.

As long as it's those specific cpus, then the only factor you should really consider is price.

I just got an Aspire 5570 that does not work. Does anyone have the service manual for it? I am trying to take it apart and am stuck so the manual would REALLY come in handy. You can e-mail it to me: tablebeast AT tablebeast DOT com Thanks in advance!

Not just any Core 2 Duo with a 533/667 FSB, only the ones on Socket M.
Some Socket Ps have a 667 FSB too, like mine.
Take a look here for compatibility.
Any Core (1) Duo should work, though - they were only produced for Socket M.
