Alright I have an acer aspire 5542G which the back light does not come on. External display port works and you can see the image on the lcd screen using a flashlight. I found out that this lcd does not have the regular brick style lcd inverter. I uses a flat pcb mounted on the back of the lcd. So I do not have one to try. I also don't have a spare cable. Any way to tell which is the culprit?
Thanks,
Travis

I'm guessing not the cable- if it was the CCFL backlit LCD that could be a cable but with LED backlit one it's unlikely that the LCD would work and back-light wouldn't if the cable was damaged.
It's odd since it's the second instance of LED backlit failure in just a few days here and we haven't dealt with it at all till now. -
Ya it did this once before as well and after wiggling the screen it came back. I checked the wires for the display cable where they plug in, and I don't see any broken or pinched wires.

Ordered a new cable and it fixed the problem.
Aspire 5542G no back light.
