Hey, I'm new here! So first of all I'm Andy, and I'm 15 from lincolnshire.

Now here's my problem. I have an Acer Aspire 5100, had it since about november 2006. The problem started a few weeks ago where it keep randomly freezing with both XP and Vista, then after it froze the screen slowly faded into grey. So I used to Acer eRecovery disc to format and recover it, but it stuck at 59% but on the 5th try it woked, but after it installed on the first boot it came up with loads of corrupt files, and everythime since its tried to do a disk check on boot-up but that always crashes causing more corrupt files.

So eventually XP didn't boot at all so I installed Vista again, but it was very slow and kept on crashing, and now wont boot at all.

All the hardware is the same exept for I upgraded to 2gb of ram in Jan 07. I have e-mailed Acer but no reply as of yet. Thanks for your support!

Edit: I downloaded a program to format the hard disk that can be booted from a USB stick, but after making some 'nastly' noises it froze at 51% and any key I press just resulted in a beep.
