    Hello you all!

Just have a problem: My Aspire 5050 takes time outs where nothing happened and nothing can be done, there is no reaction! It takes between 2 and 5 minutes, than it´s back to normal work... It happens in different situations, during startup (so it can take about 10 minutes to start, 8 minutes I just see a black screen) or just during normal work at Win XP.
I also did a complete fresh install of the OS, which didn´t solve the problem...I also checked things like RAM and HDD (only 5 out of 60 GB are used)...they seem to be ok.
What could be the problem?? Please help me... :-(

    Thanks to all og you!
    WM

What do you mean time-outs? Does the whole thing just freeze for 5 minutes, then it comes back to life?

Check the event log and see if there are any errors or messages that might lead you to the cause..

    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, then click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. Or, open the MMC containing the Event Viewer snap-in.
    2. In the console tree, click Event Viewer.

YES, it just freezes (including the clock!) for some minutes and after that, it comes back to life....

@Met-AL: I´ll try that, but I did not have any error messages before...

    *cheers*
