    Aspire 3000 screen issues

    Hi all,
    Just joined here and been searching but haven't found anything so I thought I'd ask the question instead.
    I have an Acer Aspire 3000 (yep it's not so young anyomre). Today I got downstairs to see that the screen is only showing colours in stripes, etc no actual graphics. Upon re-start it quickly flicks up a distorted version of the acer screen then goes back to just colours again.
    Any suggestions as to what may have caused this?
    Has it finally given up the ghost?
