    Aspire 2000/2010/2020 hinges?

    Hi,

    something sad happened 2 days ago...the right hinge of my Acer Aspire 2003Wlmi & partner in job broke...
    It seems that these items have been discontinued, so maybe some suppliers have that part in stock if i'm extremely lucky...

    I could not locate anyone, so if you have any idea where i could find one, you're welcome.

    Sorry to hear that dude. Can you give me the official model number for the laptop? Acer Aspire (model number)? Maybe I can do some research for you.

    ps. Also, please take some pictures of the laptop, so I can be clear on what you may need

    It seems that "someone up there" want's to make me feel lucky sometimes.... :)

    after 5 days of continuous search...with noone having a replacement part....

    ...a seller from china showed up in ebay and has 50 pieces of "only" the right hinge assembly ( the one i need ) !!!!

    That should be called luck....bought a piece for me the next 2 seconds... :D

    The notebooks characteristics are the following (label on the back) :

    ACER ASPIRE 2000 Series
    Model CL32
    AS2003WLMI LXA140503434717989EB00

    It seems to be a Compal (the board is actually recognized as a Compal CL50 ) and since Dec2003 i got it, the only things that failed were the thou hinges...Seems like cast metal, and it cracks just in the imaginary line between the two small bolts that hold it down to the casing...Wrong Material...
    If i never found a replacement part i would order 2 new solid metal ones from a CNC workshop... :D

    Could you post the link to the item on eBay?? Assuming you're not buying all 50 pieces!!

    My right hinge has also broken after 6 years. It's been a sturdy laptop otherwise. It seems the right hinge has been a problem for many people so I'm guessing it's a manufacturing fault.

    Of course i did not buy all 50 pieces...hehe...says "More than 10 Available" though...hope you don't buy the whole stock too!!!...just kiddin'.... ;)

    Probably wrong material selection is the cause... :(
    In order not to have again the same problem, maybe a good move is to ensure that you do not overtighten the bolts that hold is down to the case...

    Hope you are lucky and there are parts left for you...it's a very rare part i think.... :cool:

    I have the same problem, but that ebay seller is out of stock now. I have been looking around on the Internet but no luck so far. I am in the US; Acer and its distributors here do not have this part anymore!

    Part details are:
    Acer Aspire 2000 Series Model CL32
    LCD Bracket Right - Acer part no. 33.A14V5.007

    This is the second time the right hinge has broken. First time around, Acer had a spare part available but not anymore.

    Any suggestions for where else I can find the LCD Brackets/ Hinges is much appreciated.

    This item is logical to be off by now, he only had 50 pieces and this item is discontinued.

    Look here...It's a simple search in Ebay.com with "Aspire 2000 Hinges" as keyword....

    I guess you're ok now if you hurry and it does not get out of stock already...
