Hi, I have a Aspire 1804, completely original although it has 2 gigs of ram. Runs faultlessly. And might add, runs faster than some of the latest duo core plastic fantastics which my extended family own.
My question is will it run 64 bit.
I was searching as to whether this motherboard would run an Intel 640 cpu which has a 2 meg L2 cache when I came across a forum (2005 thread )where someone answering a question re CPU's, told the person asking a question to hold on till the Intel 541 cpu came on the market. This 541 is exactly the same specs as the 540 but runs 64 bit. So can someone tell me if my 1804 will run 64 bit, please.
I presently run Xp, Vista and also have Ubuntu. I am not impressed with Ubuntu but if this 1804 will run 64 bit, will install Suse 11.2 64 bit.
All help and advice greatly appreciated.

The current CPU is an Intel P4 3.2 ghtz HT. It is 32 bit. Hence the above question.

What is the current CPU? All you have to do is check if the CPU is 64-bit capable. For instance, the Pentium 4 541 is 64-bit capable and should be able to run a 64-bit operating system.
