I'm very close to choosing the
    Acer Aspire 1804WSMi
but haven't been able to see one.

If the display is good that will probably clinch it and I'd be very grateful if people could give me their impressions of the screen.

The alternative is the Clevo D470K based
    Evesham Voyager 647 A34
    (I'm in the UK).

I have had my 1804WSMI for 4 weeks now. The display is very sharp and bright, but the viewing angle could be a little better. If you are sitting close to it, it's a little darker on the outer left and right edges. It is not a big problem, but sometimes a little annoying. No problem if you watch a movie and sit a little farther away.

From my understanding there are at least two different vendors of the TFT display for the 1804WSMI. Maybe there are differences between these?

Anybody else that has an opinion on the display?

Display on my 1804WSMi seems to be good enough, although it's no VAIO. Can't really say I'm thrilled nor disappointed. I haven't noticed the darker edges though.

How can you find out which model TFT display you have?
