Hi! I hope I am posting in the correct place; if not, I apologize.

I am looking for the BIOS v1.19 download for the Aspire 9300. MAM_V119.EXE should be included. I have had no luck; I could not find this on Acer's site... or anywhere. I followed a link to mediafire, but Avast! blocked the download.

Of course, I have 4GB waiting to be installed. I have spent three days looking. If you have the .zip file and can post or send it, I would be happy.

    Thanks in advance...

You mean a link form this post?
It's clean. I downloaded it a minute ago and run it via VirusTotal- here are the results
It's modified by kizwan but the original BIOS is no longer available as Acer apparently decided to close down the old FTP bit by bit.

Thank you. I will take your word for it. I suspended Avast! long enough to download the file. I'll let you know what happens.

Just remember to read the first post of kizwan's thread and follow his advice (like this one about preparing a Crisis disk)

I certainly did prepare a crisis disk. :)

The good news is that the BIOS flashed perfectly. The bad news is that 4GB still crashes my machine. The blue screen does not stay on long enough for me to determine the problem.

Is it possible that I have the wrong file?

No I don't think so- it should be the right file.
Try to use a camera in your mobile phone or something like that to record the BSOD although I'm not sure it's gonna be helpful.

I set the computer to not boot on a blue screen. On four boots, the following occurred:

    1. MEMORY_MANAGEMENT - Took about 5 minutes.

    2. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION - Took about 30 seconds.

    3. A problem with pcw.sys - Again, 30 seconds.

    4. Same as 1.

I am befuddled... I can live with 2GB, but I'd rather use 4.

I'd attach the photos, but they are too large.

You can upload the photos and include thumbnails in the post if you think it may be helpful.
I'm not sure if it's all worth the trouble- why don't you mix it up and use 2GB + 1GB. It's not what you hoped for but 3GB is better than nothing (or two for that matter) ;)

It didn't like 2+1, either. I'm sure I can use the chips somewhere...

    Thank you for your patience.

My Aspire 9302 needed bios 1.19 to be able to work with 4GB. Strangely, Acer kinda removed 4GB support in the latest 1.20 bios.

Two identical modules in this machine is a must, as it switches to dual-channel mode - and the integrated nvidia 6100 graphics is sucking from main ram ;) I got two 2GB Corsair PC6400 modules.

Last bit of performance can be had by installing the nvidia system tools: NVIDIA DRIVERS 6.06

Through that, I was able to stabilize mine at 1900MHz - a nice boost from the standard 1600 (Turion MK-52).
