What do you think of Acer's notebook reliability after taking a look at this link?

http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/tm_reliability.htm# (read then click on the "Acer reliability test video preview" link)

Looks pretty impressive eh? However, most manufacturers claim to have their notebooks undergo torturous tests such as these; anyways, it is a bit reassuring to have this knowledge though. What struck me as unrealistic was their claim that their notebooks should last 5 years. Wouldn't it be nice if that was true. I still think Acer's overall quality is not bad; my new aspire feels very sturdy (not as sturdy as my previous notebook - HP DV2000z - but then again, I only paid $900CAN while the HP cost be $1200) and can be picked up from the corner without any creaking.

Marketing stunt , most likely some elctronics will fry then a mechanical break , which is usually not covered anyway .

The best test is the warranty period . period .

well, though it is good to know that a company DID do stress test. its better that (at least) their informing us how they do the test, instead of giving out unproven claim.

You can't believe that EVERY SINGLE NOTEBOOK goes thru that test. More like random tests. Maybe 1 outta 100. I love acer quality, but thats still pure marketing to me.

Think of how many laptops any company would break/waste if they did it that way.
