My acer aspire 5920G sometimes has a cooling problem. The cooling fan is not always working resulting in overheating. When leaving the laptop on, the fan can start all of a sudden after some hours and stay on and regulating the temp OK, but when the laptop is restartet, the fan is turned off again and I have to wait for a long time again for the fan to start.

Is there something that can be done to this problem?

    Thanks in advance

Could be the temp monitor circuit which controls the fan and not the fan itself. Not too good if it's the problem.

You do blow out the vents and fan every so often?

How old is the laptop? How much use?

It is easy for the fan to get clogged with lint and small hairs.

    thank you for the reply,

I have opened the back of the laptop and made the fan dust free. The laptop is about 4,5 years old so pretty old, but still working great except for the cooling problem.

I have installed speedfan and can read all the temperatures, but the fan controlles is all hidden and can't see or do anything about it.
