I have a problem with an Acer Aspire 1690 turns off suddenly, when I play GTA San Andreas or Counter Strike. I thought that maybe it's the CPU temperature, but does not jump of 50-60 degrees max. Please help me nice I bother with this problem for a year.

I apologize, I use the google translator, please write to translate correctly. xD

It can be the GPU- it uses the ATI Mobility x700 which doesn't use a thermal diode so you won't be able to monitor it.
It would be best if you disassembled the notebook cleaned the vents, the radiator and applied new high quality thermal compound on both CPU & GPU.

You change thermal paste every three weeks? You're kidding me.
If you did that once a year it would be too often.
GPU doesn't have a thermal diode to measure temperature- that's what I wrote.

The GPU (graphic card) is under the heatsink visible on this photo.

: p, Well even at 3 week, but once a month and a half to 1 exchange, at least so I changed it recently. To change GPU Thermal paste must also dismantle the laptop to get to the motherboard ...
Heatskin you mean that piece of copper, which has two screws. Indeed heatskin it gets very hot.

Thanks, but still not finished the job.

Thermal paste I could change because there are many more plugs and screws and I was afraid to ruin your laptop. But I put 2 fans in it of course with the covers removed, and everything goes in vain. Is there a secret setting in the bios? to not be left?
