Finally, I've been looking for user reviews for too long!

Right now I'm somewhere between Acer 6292, Dell XPS M1330 and Latitude 630.
Gaah! Oh well tonight it's Acer, tomorrow...who knows

Its with me now and comes with the upgraded 2x1GB 667MHz RAM and 200GB SATA Hitachi 7200 rpm hard disk

I'm now struggling to install Win XP Pro with SP2, the ACER XP hardware drivers and the MS hotfixes

Apparently, after installing all the ACER hardware drivers I'm unable to shut down the system. And, worse still, after installing the MS hofixes using AutoPatcher (May Core) the system goes into BSOD and refuses to start up.

As you are aware Win XP does not come with SATA hard disk driver which means you need to get it from ACER website.

You'll need to put the SATA driver on a floppy disk and install it during the boot up process.

I've tried many times re-partitioning and re-formatting the hard disk because of installing Win XP Pro

    The Crystal Eye built-in webcam especially...can't display...shxxxt!

I'm still trying....giving me nuts.....so no review until system is settled....sorry

    :(

I tried the 6292 last week. The first one I got, the optical drive would not close. I have tried to close it in so many different ways but the tray just wouldn't stay close. I went back to the store and got another one; same problem...So I didn't bother with a 3rd one...

Also, I don't like the keyboard of the 6292 as it doesn't feel good, heh...Otherwise, it has nice specs. and it's small!

OK, after the hard work comes the fuits of labour

Finally, I managed to get WinXP Pro SP2 installed with ACER XP hardware drivers without the AUtoPatcher of course.

Everything works fine except for the finger print which the software says it could not detect the hardware (finger print)

I'll be seeing ACER tomorrow on this

Let me have it a few days and then I'll write a short review

    :)

    There's also another 6292 model with T7300/2GB DDRII/160GB/Intel ABGN/BT/Intel X3100/WinXP Pro.

I will also be getting it...Hopefully I won't have the CD tray issue...
