Hi I'm thinking about buying the Acer Timeline 3810T but I had a couple of questions.

    1) Have any of you guys who ordered a 3810T ever gotten any dead pixels on you screen? The place I'm buying from is a pain when it comes to replacement so I was wondering if it was worth buying the "zero dead pixel guarantee" for an extra $60.

    2) Would the 3810 support a SATA II SSD like this one?

    3) I'm confused on which models come with Bluetooth. How would you check for Bluetooth availability? The site I'm buying from got lazy and put almsot the same description throughout all the timeline models.

This is the timeline I'm planning on ordering.

    Thanks for the Help.

    1) I didn't get any dead pixels but I'd think that Acer's manufacturer warranty would cover that.

    2) I honestly have no idea.

    3) Since it doesn't say it probably doesn't have Bluetooth. I bought the 6415 model and it did come with Bluetooth and that's a different model you're looking at. It also is with XP while mine came with Vista 64bit.

Oh God I think I just notice dead pixel!

EDIT: Restarted and it disappeared. Might have been a stuck pixel but whatever it was is gone.

Timelines are 1.8" hard drives from what I read before. And if the specs doesn't list it, don't assume it.

The one that has bluetooth is the 64XX that's the US model.

One more very important thing - the Canadian model has a different keyboard than the US model. Go to your Bestbuy or Futureshop and take a look, cuz it's completely awkward and different. If it bothers you like it does for me, make a US friend :)

Unfortunately Bestbuy and Futureshop do not carry the Timeline models at the moment.

Correct, timeline uses regular 2,5" drives and is SATA II compatible.

Alright Thanks for the help guys.
I might order one from NCIX as it says that they only charge 5% sales tax to all other provinces that weren't listed and Ontario wasn't listed ^^. Saves me 8% worth of taxes if that is the case.

    One final question,
Would you guys recommend the 3810T SU9400 model over the Sony Vaio TZ, Samsung x360-G, and Lenovo U110 in terms of Preformance, endurance, and portability?

The 3810, X360, and TZ should perform about the same (both have SU9400/GMA 4500), unless you get a TZ with an SU9600 or a slower SU9300. The U110 uses last generation parts, so the 3810 beats it.

But the X360 is nice with the 3 year warrany, 2.8lb weight, 10 hour battery, and 300 nit screen. The bad thing is the price.

Just look at the price. Sony TZ (or TT) and X360 are basically the same specs, but much higher price. Of course the timeline doesn't deliver enterprise features like fingerprint reader, but it's a great subnotebook.

    Heres the thing,
Getting a Sony TZ with a 32GB SSD will actually cost the same as getting the Acer Timeline 3810T SU9400 model + 30GB OCZ Vertex SDD for me. They both will will total at around the $1.3k mark. And the X360-34G model (*one with a HDD instead) will also land in that same price bracket.

In the end, All 3 will come in at the same price.
