    Good Morning All,

My first thread on the forum and Im after a little bit of help....

I had my TM 2702WLMi for Xmas (off the Fiancee) 2yrs ago and have to say it has served me well (up until recently :( )

Firstly my touchpad packed up.... then it kept resetting and blue screening quite regularly  managed to re-install everything from my restore disks and ran ok for a short while then started to reset again

I have cleaned the heatsink and removed a large amount of "dust" (which led to the touchpad to work again)

Now it wont turn on at all (just the 2 switch lights (bluetooth & wireless) remain constantly on and the fan turning but will not boot up) It also freezes when I try to move the laptop anywhere

Could it be that the processor or motherboard have packed in or something has worked loose??

HELP PLEASE!!! I got a baby on the way so cant really afford to buy a replacement yet so hopefully I can rectify the above problems without denting the savings too much ;)

Can you get into the bios at the POST screen(first screen that says ACER) usually press f2 to get into the bios. Once in the bios if the LCD(screen) still works then it isn't any LCD issues preventing you from seeing windows. Now if it isn't that and you have cleaned out the dust from your system's fan/vents and you still can't boot, then it is something motherboard related. You mention that you cannot boot and but you can hear the fan running and the 2 lights are on even when you have not reached windows then something is wrong with your motherboard it maybe dying or is almost dead. Contact acer support and explain your situation to them and see what they tell you the problem is, as I suspect your motherboard is dying.

    Evolution,

Thankyou for the prompt reply ;)

No Im getting nothing at all Im afraid... no Acer logo or anything just the sound of the fan and the 2 lights continuously on :( I did suspect either the motherboard OR the processor tbh :(

I've emailed Acer and they'll probably confirm the same :frown:

Looks like Im either going to have to get the credit card out  or do without for a couple of months.... luckily enough it isnt HD related so at least I havent lost 3/4yrs worth of music & files

Had the following reply from Acer Technical Support....

Now Im debating on wether to just get a new laptop or not as tbh if it is a motherboard / processor issue I can see it is gonna cost a bit of money to get repaired and as its already nearly 3yrs old

Anybody know of any good deals at the mo ;)
