My Acer screensaver is not working . All other Windows screensavers are
working but ! I think it might have a corrupt file or something. Can I download it from somewhere ? I tried searching for it in the Acer website but i didnt find it.

    This is happening on a AS 5630 - 6803.

Did you see if the screensaver is enabled? I am assuming you are running Windows - go to Right Click Desktop > Display Properties > Screensaver and check out what screensaver is selected and if it is turned on.

There are a number of different causes of screen savers not working in XP.
I'd suggest you do a Google search for "Windows XP Screen Saver not working" and use the articles that come up to troubleshoot it.

This ... is an excellent way to NOT get helped!

When someone asks you a question--no matter how simple or "newb-ish"--so that they can beter understand your problem and HELP you, don't respond like this guy. :(

Well, the problem that I was pointing out was that you had a very angry and sarcastic tone. However, I'm assuming that English might not be your native tongue and thus you did not pick up on this. If so than I do apologize; you just have to be careful with the way in which you word things because sometimes people might take offense, or get the wrong impression regarding you intentions. ;)

Let's not blow it out of proportion. I wasn't offended, but I appreciate your concern, Mattkaz.

@sfitr - What's the prognosis? Is the screensaver working again?

lol, sorry. I wasn't trying to blow anything out of proportion ... I'm not even mad/offended. I just wanted to make sure that if he needs help in the future he understands that he has to be careful about how he responds!

    No hard feelings anyone! :D

Can you preview the screensaver? Screensavers are usually executable files renamed to .scr... maybe something is preventing the system to load the file (check anti-virus, firewall, Windows Scheduller, services running on administrative tools...).

And, as said before, Google always know!

Yes I can preview ALL of them. The problem is that they will not go on automatically after the time set 5mins, 10mins etc..

I will check the anti-virus and firewalls.

    Hi everyone!
It's not actually a question of not working. It's more to do with the fact that I reinstalled the operating system with XP Pro and like a twit, forgot to back up the Acer Screensaver file. I believe it's an EXE file. Acer being their usual helpful selves have not put it on their site for download.
The screensaver I'm after is any that uses the Orbicam really. I have an Acer Aspire 9424WSMi 2Gb if that helps.
    Cheers.
    Chris.

    try this:

Please go to the Start button located on the lower left hand of your screen and select Run in the dialog box please type MSCONFIG and press enter.

In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click the Startup tab, and then click to clear the DVDLauncher check box and the PCMService check box under Startup Item. (if there)

Under Startup Item, click to clear the eTray check box if it exists.

Click Apply, click Close, and then click Restart to restart the computer.

Had a few customers with the same issue, this was ONE of many solutions out there.

Hi JP: Am a new "poster" as I wanted to thank you for your advice re screensaver. I could not find dvdlauncher or PCMservice check boxes but did uncheck ehTray (mine had a "h") in name, however I am running a desktop HP system not a notebook, so maybe there's a different name used.

Anyway wanted to let you know that my screen saver is now working ... Thanks again : Joanne

I had a great screensaver pre-installed and now it's not working. Couldn't find the items on the Startup tab of System Configuration Utility to uncheck.

    Please help! Thanks a bunch!

Everyone with the acer screensaver problem "NO SCREENSAVER WORKING" ......... I HAVE THE ANSWER!!!!

I assist teaching computer for the elderly and asked the teacher about the problem. She went searching online for me and found out that it is a Vista problem. She sent me to this website:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911895.

I then clicked on "RESOLUTION" and it then asked me to update Vista. I found 3 new updates and the one I was looking for was:

"Microsoft - Other Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter"

There were 3 updates, so I updated them all regardless. My computer rebooted after everything was done and my screensaver is now working perfectly.

The problem was NOT an Acer problem, it was a Vista problem. I hope to read from all the happy people who are now using their laptop with a screensaver.

    Thanks...
