I have an Aspire 1640z, 1642zwlmi to be exact, and the screen has died. At first it was flickering on and off, but then it finally went almost completely black. It still has some green at the top part, but it is mostly black. When it was still just flickering or going all multicolor, I could squeeze the sides of the screen, and it would go back to normal. Any idea what the problem is?

It could be 1 of 3 things.

    1. If you can pinch or kind of bend your screen and you get image, chances are your LCD is bad.
    2. If when your screen goes black, you can see an image (without light), it may be that your inverter is bad. You can get a flashlight to check if you see any image.
    3. Rarest of cases, the cable from the board to the screen could be bad. This is usually applicable to people who have had the screen replaced once before though.
