Ok, I was reading the sticky and got to page 9, then had to stop and come ask and clear up my main questions.

I am looking at buying this:
    http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/product.aspx?language=en-CA&product=2515754&category=Notebooks_English&catalog=Online&tab=2#more
    (Many know this already)

And need to know if what I want it, will it stand up and be any good to me.
I have already posted the actul programs I plan on running, but thats beside the fact.

Heres what I need it for:
Carrying around the house (and laying on table and stuff)
    5 - 10 trips a year on the bus/car
10 times to school (once a week for 10 weeks) thats it. (For this year and next though, so really 20 times, then thats it.)

    I'm pretty sure thats it.

I need to know, is it going to get so hot it will screw up? Or not work...
Will, the keyboard make a werid noise, and stick and stuff like that that people have said...
Build quilty will be no good...
    screen will break...
customer support wont help me or replace it if something needs fixing...

and all that stuff, you know what I am talking about.
I'm getting pretty pissed off, please excuse my language.

I'm buying with visa, so it should make the warrenty 2 years. (1 year comes with it, and 1 year for visa)

    So, Comments?

Please help, because I need to make the right choise.

Edit: Then again, I doubt even bringing it to school! So minus that.

This is my Experience with a Acer 17 inch and a 15 inch laptop.

Doesn't get too hot in decent temps. Very good at staying cool in Room or Warm temps. Ofcourse if you have it in the Summer Extreme heat then, DUH.

Being that you will not carry it out everyday, I would recommend it as it is not a tough as most laptops and can be cracked on the screen hinges from to much stress. (So I heard).

P.S, Why buy that when you can get the one in my sig for $150 more. Maybe less than that too. I bought mine 5102 for $850 at Comp-USA.

That looks like a rip-off to me!! And They don't even have the built-in CAM on the screen.

Trying finding a better deal on a 5100 or 02. With X2 (Dual Core) and atleast 1GB.

    Vista on 512mb? LOL

    FIND A BETTER DEAL!!!

I see, which is good then.

I can't get a better deal because I can't buy online, and $800 is my budget (Thats with tax included.)

I will be upping to 1gig though.

You really can't expect for customer service to know as much as you do. Most of them are just "text book" trouble shooters.

Especially Dell, they are the worst at not knowing whats going on.

    Ohh, Ok. I see.

So, The way people are talking now, is that Acer is fine, except for those few people who got a lemon and now think all Acer's are bad...

Mine will be carried around the house, and taken on a few road trips a year, and if it can't stand up to that, seeing as I will be babying it, there is someting wrong there. But I guess I shall find out when I go in on Dec. 28th to go pick mine up.

The Acer 5102 is really good. I've had it for about 3.5 months now, carrying it to class most days. It is extremely durable, although there is some chassis flex. The screen is wonderful, and it is better than everyones dell here. The keyboard is also a pleasure to type on, way better than HP and Dell. I think Acer's most current models are better built than their previous models, and the 5102 definitely shows that. The heat isn't bad at all either.

If you wait until Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, Circuit City is selling the 5102 for $599.99.

How much is it without the whole black friday racket? Becasue thats a wikid laptop, and if the price is right, I might get it this weekend... I doubt they will have enough on friday when i get to Halifax, but if the price is right my Aunt can order one for me! looks like a sweet PC. I'll check the circuit city website now.

Wait, the store here where I am getting the laptop is " The Source - By Circuit City " Hmmm!

Edit: No store around here, and from a quick search, that laptop is out of range for price. Thanks anyway.
