I just got a brand new Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi from CETUK.I did a Window Update and it had installed around 60 Updates. In addition to it,i had installed Windows Media Player 11(with URGE)and demos of F.E.A.R and NFS:MW.The system restarted after installation and said the updates have been installed successfully.I shut it down and tried to restart it after a couple of hrs and it didn't start up.I can see that the power is on as the power key is on and the processed fan is running but i'm not able to see anything on the display.I tried turning it off/on more than a couple of times but everytime it turned on but nothing showed up on the display.I tried calling up CET Tech support, they say it seems to be hardware problem.
Has anyone encountered this porblem previously? Can anyone let me know as to how to go about resolving this.It has just been one day since i got it,so it is still in warranty.

    Thank you in advance.

Was it the same laptop? Is there any way of identifying this?I read somewhere that if this could be a problem with the HDD also.Could this be possible?

I had This problem with an old compaq notebook of mine.

You should take out the ram stick(s) and put them back in. (they could be loose)

If that doesn't work, try reinstalling windows. In some cases, your notebook could have issues with Windows XP Service pack 2. Your notebook is new though so I very highly doubt that it's because of service pack 2

I had look at the back case of the notebook and i could see that one of the RAM sticks was misaligned.I suspect ths could be the problem but i'm not ruling out the Windows XP Home SP2.
Could installing XP Professional solve the incompatibility issue with the turion?I heard that windowx xp home offers minimised performance in dual core processors.(Sorry if i'm wrong:-()

Did you FIX the alignment of the RAM, or did you just observe it? If the latter, get in there and put them in properly! It is probably a hardware issue somewhere if your screen/computer does not turn on. It may be something with the motherboard.

Its been just one day, isn't it better to leave it out to Acer authorised technician.Or should i do it myself?I'm sorry but i have not done this before,i'm a newb at this...Can this be one of the causes?Could there be an issue with the hard disk also?
If one of the ram sticks is misaligned then there's always the other slot(its always a 2*512 right?),it should atleast boot right?but it doesn't do anything!!!
