That is way different from my 5230E. I guess the upper/lower covers have to come off because of the fan location. Ouch. But yes, it should be a simple swap. T9550-9600-9800 I don't think so. FSB is 800MHz on all the supported processors. Stick with an 800MHz FSB because the 1066MHZ ones may not run at all. T9300 and T9500 would be the quickest, but don't discount the T8100 and T8300 which are DIRT cheap right now. You can buy T8100 for about $21 on eBay (incl shipping in USA) and T8300 for about $39 shipped. T9300/T9500 are $70 to $100 and up. If you don't need that much L3 cache, T4200/T4300 chips can be had for less than $10 shipped.

Honestly my older girls have new $400 Acers with i3-370M's in them and my 5230E with a Pentium dual core T4300 keeps right up with them. You can buy these things for $80-$150 on eBay, swap in a $10 T4300, and be good to go. I'm glad the last time I bought thermal paste I got the BIG tube of Silver 5. Gonna need it because I'm currently buying up any 5230E's I can find, along with certain eMachine ones with Celeron 900's in them if the case has a big cover on the bottom. Easy peasy.

Maybe the 1066MHz chips will work. I don't know. Never tried one. Figured if 800MHz DDR2 memory is being used, no sense using a faster processor bus speed.

The T9300 and T9500 are both 800MHz FSB chips and either should work. I personally wouldn't spend the extra money for the T9500. A T9300 can be had for half as much ($65-$70ish right now on eBay)
