    A friend of mine has 2 laptops in good condition for sale:

    which has 2gb RAM

    which has 1024MB

    Sound Card: Integrated
    Modem: Integrated 56K v.90
    Ethernet: Integrated 10/100

    Both systems running XP.
    I don't know much about computers and would like to know which one would you recommend and why?
    I basically would need it to surf the net wireless, and work on mainly with excel, word, powerpoint. And some gaming like counterstrike, age of empires, etc, and to listen to some music and watch a game here and there.

    exactly what speed x2? it can come with 5 different X2's.

    You get 1 more USB port with the Acer, along with 40GB more drive space, and another GB of RAM.

    the acer is faster and has more ram..

    but test both w/ the games you want to use.... that will give you realworld info.......... not just other people's perspective....

    I believe the acer is tk 55 and the compaq is tk 50

    thanks for highlighting the extra 40gb memory and the extra 1gig too, but if I was to put another 1gb into the presario for 20-30 bux would it make it better deal then?
    My question relies more into which one is a better brand? which processor turion or athlon? which one has better video card, better speakers, lcd, etc besides ofcourse the extra gig and 40mb of space....which one is the best bang for the buck...thanks guys.
