Hello again, everyone! More news from the Great White North that might be useful to people south o' da border too!

A slew of new laptops being announced in the latest Pricing Matrix from Acer.ca.

Aspire 7540 - Two models, these are based on the newest AMD platform. Athlon 2 and Turion 2 CPUs, Radeon HD 4200 GPUs, and 17.3" HD+ screens. Windows 7 64-bit, too. Priced under $700, launching on October 30th.

Aspire 5738G - Dated and priced for Canada: $769 and October 30th for the regular 5738G, $799 and November 15th for the touch-screen 5738PG.

Aspire 7738G - Another 17.3" model, this one's on the Intel platform and coupled with a GeForce GT 130M, DDR3, 500GB hard drive and Windows 7 64-bit. $899 on October 30th.

And the one everyone's been waiting for news on:
    Aspire 8940G - Giggity. Core i7 720QM, 500GB hard drive, 4GB DDR3-1066, GeForce GT 240M, Blu-ray drive, and 18.4" 1080p screen. $1399, unleashed on October 30th.

Also, this one caught my eye:
Aspire 8735G - The Core 2 Duo cousin of the 8940G. C2D P8800, 320GB hard drive, but otherwise same key specs as above. $1239, same release date.

Good to hear that i7-y goodness is just around the bend for the Acer brand.

It is a refresh for the Aspire 4535G/4535.
New Turion 2 based laptops Caspian Chips from Griffin Chips.
The Graphics for 4540 is updated from 3200HD in 4535 to 4200HD in 4540.
The graphics remained the same for 4540G and 4535G still 4570HD.
Most significant upgrade is the Caspian chip now you get a genuine K10 Mobile CPU although it is still a Dual Core only.

Strange about the 8735g. It's already for sale in the US at a price of $899.00
