I have an Acer Laptop with Windows 98. I think it's a PentiumII Processor. My Son have put a password on the BIOS and doesn't remember it. How can I clear this?

Normally, pulling the internal battery (not the one on the outside) & the one outside for approx 10mins and then reconnect. This should normally do it, but there are also units that have jumpers to clear the BIOS. Other's you need a special adapter (Toshiba) to get rid of it. Since this is an older unit, it may be one of the first couple suggestions.

BIOS chips are usually EEPROM chips i.e. info is stored without the need for a battery. Apparently, acer.tw have an engineer's utility which will get past the password - I believe you need to look for the NAPP utility - this will also restore the hidden partition for the system restore - I'm told. Good Luck.
