I have a 7720 with the same processor but with an 8400m GS graphics card. If you open up the hard drive bay on the bottom you will see that there is room for a second hard drive in the drive cage. I placed a second 250gb hdd for a total of 500gb in mine. I plan on upgrading my processor to a T8300 in the near future. My laptop has a dedicated MXM II graphics card that can be upgraded by swapping cards. I don't know if your model has integrated graphics or the MXM graphics card. My guess would be the MXM card but you would have to open it up and check it out to make sure.

this might seem silly to ask but opening the laptop would invalidate the warranty?

iam so new to laptops as i was a desktop person and built my own pc's all the time but room was needed and laptop was the only feesable option.
iam happy with my laptop as i chose my laptop carefully as in "would this laptop last for 2 years" but hdd is needed as in the minute i have one 250gb split in half (2x110gb) i know i can merge the hdd easily via disk management on vista no problem but i like to keep stuff on a 2nd hdd for security if i need to reinstall the system.

Would my laptop go to the 800mhz fsb if placed the same cpu in my laptop
as bois is sooo limited nothing much you could do with it

You can search this forum for "7720 CPU Upgrade" for more information. That is what I did. Look at this thread as an example:

sorry I can't hot link it. Stupid forum software.

If you don't want to buy the cpu retail, you can try ebay. There are also MXM II gpu cards on ebay. The only problem I have is that they all seem to ship from China and I don't know whether I want to deal with someone so far away.

Yes, you need the one that starts with "T". If you don't want to buy used on ebay, you can try this link for new processors.

    .google.co.uk/products?hl=en&q=t8300&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=4&ct=title

I really don't know that much about gpu's. Go to .mxm-upgrade.com and read up on it their and in there forums.

(Only 2 more posts to go before I can start posting links)

Regarding vga card, as you have and Mxm-II slot, it can be replaced for another one.

The Asus 9600GT is working very fine at cheap prices, but be carefull, once you have changed it, you will have to blind flash its BIOS with Acer´s one in order to make it work (using nvflash). It´s not difficult, just a bit tricky, search the forum as there´s plenty of info about that.

Kind Regards and good luck on your upgrades!
