Hi Guys .. I have got an Acer Aspire V5-121 . I got it recently and its having trouble with playing videos .
Whenever I try to play an .mp4 or .mkv , there is a huge amount of lag which makes viewing videos and movies completely impossible .
The machine is currently loaded with Win8.1 and I have tried all kinds of light weight linux distributions..
Is there is any solution to this problem or is it that this netbook is not meant for playing videos or stuff like that ?

    Specs are

AMD C-70 Processor with ATI Radeon Graphics
    2 GB RAM , 500 GB HDD , 11.6" screen etc ...

    Thanks ...

Have you tried MPC-HC or similar media player that supports DXVA(hardware video acceleration)? Tried testing Youtube's video player on their website which supports hardware video acceleration? Do you have the proper GPU drivers installed?

CPU is a bit weak, but I think it should do 720p in general by itself.
