My Acer Aspire One D260 keyboard has developed inactive keys: various letters, the brightness keys, sound control keys.

I have reloaded the operating system and the problem persists.

Is it a keyboard hardware problem? Should I buy and install a new one? Is it a simple process?

Try uninstalling the keyboard driver in Device Manager, and then have Windows re-install the default driver. Did you update the BIOS or firmware before the OS install?

Aspire is an Acer, not ASUS. Moved to Acer forum.

These keyboards are cheap and easy to replace so that shouldn't be a problem.
Just make sure that it's not something totally unrelated- like lack of Launch Manager installed or a bad connection (disconnect the keyboard and connect again).
