Hey guys - I want to buy an acer aspire AS7552G-6061 but before i decide to i would like to know a little bit more about the GPU in it and possibilities of upgrading it. As far as i know it has a ATI HD 5650 with 1GB GDDR5 memory but i saw a 5870 and a 4870 (both are MXM 3.0, type B) for sale on E-bay but completely unsure if these cards are compatible with this acer.

can anyone give me a little more detail about the ATI HD 5650 in the aspire AS7552G-6061 and if these cards for sale would work in it?

    thanks in advance

You sure the 7552G's GPU can be changed?

Looking at the spare parts, there are multiple motherboards which specify the GPU so no, it's soldered on.

Also the 5650 does not support GDDR5. The 5650 and 5850 that can come in it only have DDR3.
