    Hey,

I am considering buying an Acer Aspire AS6930-6073 from Newegg, and was just wondering if people have any experience with it. How is the battery life? Is it tough? Sturdy construction? I plan to take it with it me some, mostly just to class.

It's at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115540, are those stats right? It has an eSATA port and Intel 5100 wireless?

I have a thread about what notebook I should get at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=344259 if anyone has suggestions.

    Thanks

This is a great laptop. The 9600GS isn't as gimped as you might think. Screen is stellar. I have had multiple Gateway 6860's and had overheating problems and stability issues. This laptop has been bulletproof.

The Dolby home theater speakers are extremely nice for a laptop....Highly recommended!

I'm leaning towards getting this. Does the memory max out at 4 gigs? Does anyone know the RPM of the HD? What about bluetooth?

I believe 4gb is your ceiling on memory for this laptop and the hard drive "feels" like it's a 5400 rpm. I honestly haven't researched that deep into the specs. I can say that for the past couple months, the real world experience is exceptional. There's a real feeling of quality with the build. Keyboard feels solid...very responsive. Like I mentioned, screen great....video card does all I want it to....which is medium to high settings at native res for all the games I care about.

yes, it's a 5400 rpm. But maybe it's y typpin, but the keyboard isn't so responsive on my 6920

Thanks for all the help so far. What kind of battery life do you get with standard stuff like surfing the web or word docs?

I can't comment on the battery life. I always run this thing wired. (I use it for 8-9 hours at my work straight through)

Keyboard issue is obviously a matter of taste. I prefer the quick response tactile feedback....very snappy. But, to each his own.

All I can say is I've had what many consider to be the best budget gaming laptops (Gateway FX's) and in my opinion, this is a much better laptop overall. Sure, frames per second are somewhat better with the 8800m GTS...but I honestly can't tell much difference at the native res of this laptop.

Hopefully your decision works out well for you.
