I was using my Acer Aspire 7736 this afternoon when suddenly it powered off without any warning whatsoever. Everything was working fine (or so it seemed) and then it just switched off for no apparent reason. I have tried starting it up again but it is completely lifeless. Has anyone got any experience of this?

Okay - so I am now considering replacing the laptop altogether with a new one. But I do not want to lose the data on my HDD. If I bought something like this - USB Hub 2.5"/3.5" SATA HDD Hard Drive Dock Card Reader on eBay (end time 23-Aug-10 17:05:13 BST) - would I be able to take the stuff I want to keep on my old HDD and move it over to the new one?

Any help or advice you guys could spare would be very gratefully received because I am really worried that I will lose the stuff on my Acer HDD! Thanks a lot in advance :)
