    Greetings All,

I have an Acer Aspire 7720-6155 laptop and am having hardware freezes during gaming. I went into the bios and I see there is 8mb of memory allocated to the video card. I suspect this could be the problem. The issue is, the column is greyed out and will not let me allocate any of my 2gb of memory towards it. Acer Tech support blew me off because its a refurb I purchased 4 months ago and it out of warranty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dynamically allocated memory is borrowed from the system memory; ie, your GPU is using shared memory. Increasing the allocated VRAM is not going to increase your performance by much simply because this kind of video memory is so slow.

You might want to consider updating your graphics driver and checking your temps to make sure that the GPU isn't overheating.

Incidentally, what GPU do you have and what games are you trying to play with it?
