    hi guys,
i updated my nVIDIA driver from 163.44 to 163.75 from laptopvideo2go.com and lost one subscore point in Vista Experience Index

the graphics score was 4.6 before and now it is 4.5 after updating the driver :(

    how come it decreased?
have you faced this kinda situation before?

    1. First, I recommend you to use 169.01 instead.
    2. Ignore the Windows Experience ratings. They're not accurate at all.

    Hi Manish,

It's just the 2.0 Ghz with a 8600GT no OC. actually it was first around 4.6 - 4.8 (I can't remember) THen after installing the the 163 driver it shot up to 5.3.

This may be a stupid question, but doesn't overclocking kill the GPU in a year or two?

Heat will shorten the life of a part, but nothing lasts forever. If you change your laptop every few years, then you probably aren't fussed about the performance advantage vs product lifetime.

What about Powermizer? There is information about problems with changing power modes for this driver (and newer versions also) on laptopvideo2go site...

I don't know much about powermizer... but I use Acer power management software to manage the power modes; I can easily underclock my GPU.

    Hi all.

All this (notebook modified nvidia drivers) is new to me. I have the same machine (Acer 5920G with 8600M GT 512MB, and Vista home premium 32bit) i id didnt work to install these modified GPU drivers.

I tried to install the drivers (downloaded from laptopvideo2go.com) and yes i tried it with the vista 32bits- versions.
I downloaded the stuff - extracted it to a folder and i clickt on the setup-file in this folder.
it all failed with 163.67, 163.69, 163.75 by the error message:
"nvidia setup program was not able to find a driver matching with the hardware".

so whats wrong? i want to get rid of that stupid acer based nvidi driver 7.15.11.119 (from april 07 muhahaha)

    thx in advance
