Acer Aspire 5755G Display

My current display can only support the resolution of 1366 X 768, and was wandering if its possible to upgrade my laptop screen to one which can support 1080p (Full HD)
I found a link on Ebay which is a 15'6 display which supports full HD, but i'm not sure if it is compatible with the connectors on my laptop

Incase you are wandering if my laptop supports HD this is my specifications of my laptop:
Intel core i7-2670qm 2.2Ghz
Nvidia gefore gt 630m with 2gb dedicated ram
8gb ram
1tb hard drive
I'm really hoping this could be possible as the display is the only disapointing thing about this laptop

It's not possible- this notebook is a single LVDS machine and you'd need two LVDS channels to support Full HD. Sorry.

 

Is it possible to increase the resolution slightly with this new screen or would it not display when fitted?

 

It has only one LVDS channels so it would display only every second line- one proper, one empty etc.
So no- you're stuck with the resolution you have.

 

Ahh right i see now, would it be possible to upgrade to two LVDS channels?

Replacing a cable is not upgrading the notebook. Notebook has to support dual-LVDS in the first place.

 

Would it be the motherboard that determines wither it supports dual LVDS?

 

Yes it is the mobo.

According to the service manual 5755G it has a 1 channel LVDS.
The screen in the link doesn't even have a model number- it just lists a notebook model number. That is weird.

 

The thing is there is quite alot of different types of acer aspire 5755g i bought this a month ago so maybe this comes with a dual LVDS, if you go back on the page it says a whole list of screens for the 5755g and one which is my current screen 1366 X 768. but obviously my screen supports better resolution as the option is there.

 

I didn't get that part. What option is there?
Is any of the screens listed in the service manual is above 768p?

 

I don't have the service manual can you link me?, well that screen that i linked you too previously claimed that it can go to a resolution of 1600x900 if i purchase that screen. so there must be a dual LVDS?

Excuse me but I don't see any logic in the statement above- the fact that some shop lists a screen that doesn't even have a model number or a manufacturer does not mean the laptop supports it. It just means someone is trying to sell something.

Service manual states that it's a single LVDS and all screens that are listed in the service manual are 1366x768.
Nothing indicates that dual LVDS would be employed- there are some specs on the Internet listing this notebook as 1600x900 but the same product number is listed on different websites as 1366x768 so it's likely an error on a reseller's part.

Posts about attempted upgrades to a higher resolution screens indicated that people were not successful in doing so although attempts are scarce.

In the end it's your money and your decision.
